Perlite is a natural volcanic rocks, rich in silica. Its unique properties are revealed when heated – and that’s the key!
During the expansion process, perlite is heated to a temperature of about 850-1000°C. The high temperature causes rapid evaporation of the water contained inside the rocks particles. As a result, perlite “swells” up to 20 times, taking the form of a lightweight, porous granule – this is expanded perlite.
Thanks to this structure, it has excellent insulation, filtration and retention properties. It is an all-natural and safe material, ready for wide use in construction, agriculture, industry and many other industries.
